GABRIEL SIMÓN, A SPANISH DOCTOR HEADING THE OPHTHALMOLOGY WORLDWIDE
Basic algorithms for myopia correction with laser had a Spanish origin

Dr. Simon has actively contributed to the improvement of the ophthalmologic technology. Sixty of his inventions are patented in the USA, Europe and Japan, and a revolutionary laser equipment for the treatment of myopia, hyperopia and/or astigmatism, also designed by him, is being commercialised all over the world.

The final result of his operations is a speedy recovery of the vision, eliminating or reducing at maximum the visual defect. Any Laser System emits energy pulses but a high number of these pulses (hundreds or thousands) are needed to correct a single DIOPTER. Each pulse is subjected to the errors conditioned by the entropic laws, and thus, it cannot be assured that two consecutive pulses have exactly the same characteristics. Dr. Simon has invented a method of Random Emission that distributes the pulses or energy quanta in space and time. This method has as an advantage these three fundamental factors in medicine: Maximum safety. The randomized distribution of the laser emission avoids that errors associated with the equipment, which can affect the patient. Maximum accuracy . Laser randomized emission, also distributes at random the error with symmetry, increasing the accuracy of the laser random emission. Maximum flexibility. A emission in short pulses and small spots enables not only to personalize the treatments, but also to configure a program for each individual situation in order to optimize the visual sharpness of the retina, avoiding secondary effects and sequelae generated by the laser ray of other methods.
